ETSI ESI standards define the technical requirements that make eIDAS-based electronic signatures, seals and trust services auditable for QTSPs.

ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) is one of three European Standards Organizations (ESOs) recognised under EU law, alongside CEN and CENELEC. Its ESI committee (Electronic Signatures and Infrastructures) writes the technical standards that make eIDAS-based electronic signatures, seals and trust services auditable and interoperable; CEN/CENELEC contribute related standards such as EN 419 2xx for QSCDs. Key families: EN 319 401 (general policy requirements for TSPs), EN 319 411 (certificate issuance), EN 319 421 (timestamps), EN 319 102 (creation and validation of AdES signatures), EN 319 122/132/142 (CAdES, XAdES and PAdES signature formats), TS 119 431/432 (remote signing) and TS 119 461 (identity proofing).

Conformity assessment bodies audit a QTSP against these standards; the audit report is the basis for qualified status.
