Cleverbase app
The Cleverbase app (formerly Vidua): one high-assurance digital identity to log in, share data and place qualified electronic signatures from your phone.
The Cleverbase app (formerly branded Vidua) is an app for digital identity verification and qualified electronic signatures under eIDAS. It is operated by Cleverbase, which is supervised by the Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur (RDI) as a QTSP and listed on the EU Trusted List (see Cleverbase's Trusted List entry and the RDI trust list for the Netherlands). Onboarding accepts a passport or identity card from a supported country, including the Netherlands: users scan the document's NFC chip once and complete biometric face verification (identity verification at eIDAS level of assurance "high"); after that they can log in at connected services with strong authentication and place qualified electronic signatures from their phone. Cleverbase intends the app to become a recognised private login means (erkend middel) under the Wet digitale overheid (Wdo), for use alongside DigiD at government organisations and other services that accept private means at level of assurance "high"; the Wdo admission process for private means is still being set up and is expected to be ready in 2026, so no private means - including the Cleverbase app - has been admitted yet. Use is currently focused on Dutch services.
Under the hood the app uses Cleverbase's QTSP services: qualified certificates, remote signing on QSCD-certified HSMs and cloud-based sole control. It shows the model the EUDI Wallet generalises: one high-assurance digital identity for login, sharing data and signing.
